About the Team
The Opto-Mechanical Assembly Department is dedicated to assembling optical and mechanical components to meet precise customer requirements. The department operates within a controlled clean room environment where the control of contaminants and particulates is critical to product quality.
About the Role
As an Optical Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for correctly following work instructions to assemble optics into housings on a production schedule. The role requires a detail-oriented approach to ensure assembly steps are performed correctly and consistently every time.
The position is structured into two levels of progression:
- Technician I: You will perform essential duties with supervisory guidance and training, gradually moving toward independent execution.
- Technician II: You will operate at a high level of proficiency with minimal supervision. In addition to executing tasks, you will provide guidance and mentoring to Level I technicians and identify assembly process improvements to share with the Optical Assembly Supervisor.
Work Environment
This position is designated as safety-sensitive. The work is performed primarily in a clean room environment, requiring the use of cleanroom-compatible overgarments (lab coat, gloves, hairnet, booties) and personal protective equipment. The environment involves moderate noise levels and requires the ability to see up close to check work quality. Employees must be able to handle parts, lift up to 10 pounds regularly (occasionally up to 25 pounds), and transport parts throughout the plant.
