Under the direction of the Partner in Charge, the Office Manager/Legal Secretary serves as the operational backbone of the Marin office. This hybrid position is designed to foster a professional, efficient, and collaborative work environment by overseeing daily administrative management and providing direct legal secretarial support to one to two attorneys.
As a central point of contact between the Marin office, the Sacramento office, and Firmwide departments, you will play a key role in maintaining consistent operational excellence. The role requires balancing leadership responsibilities—such as supervising non-attorney staff and managing office budgets—with hands-on legal support duties, including drafting documents, managing litigation workflows, and handling court filings.
Your day will be dynamic, shifting between strategic office management and tactical legal support. You might begin by coordinating staff workloads and communicating coverage updates to attorneys before 9:00 a.m. You will then oversee daily operations, ensuring high staff morale and adherence to Firm policies while managing the annual renewal process for client contracts.
Simultaneously, you will provide direct support to attorneys, handling e-filings, preparing hearing binders, and managing complex calendars. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Facilities, IT, and Marketing to ensure the office runs smoothly and that attorneys have the resources they need for events and presentations. Throughout the day, you will act as a liaison for sensitive personnel matters, maintaining strict confidentiality while fostering a collegial culture through staff events and training.
