About the Department
Albany Medical College's Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a high-volume academic center serving as a regional perinatal referral hub. The department manages over 2,500 deliveries annually and 18,000+ ambulatory clinic visits, caring for a diverse patient population with complex maternal and fetal co-morbidities. The team includes 30 physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, 2 genetic counselors, and a robust educational program with 24 residents and 6 fellows. Comprehensive multidisciplinary support is provided by Maternal-Fetal Medicine, OB anesthesia, neonatology, nursing, and ancillary services.
About the Role
We are seeking a full-time Obstetrician-Gynecologist Hospitalist to join our team in a shift-based, inpatient-only model. This role is designed for physicians who thrive in a fast-paced academic environment focused on labor and delivery, obstetric triage, and inpatient gynecologic care. The position offers a unique opportunity to practice without outpatient clinic responsibilities while providing comprehensive care for high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies.
As a Hospitalist, you will supervise and teach OB-GYN residents and medical students, actively engaging in simulation training and interdisciplinary education. You will also play a key role in shaping the department's future by participating in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety protocols, and the development of an academic OBGYN Hospitalist program. The role includes an academic appointment with a rank commensurate with your experience.
The Schedule
The position utilizes a hospitalist shift-based model featuring 7-24 hour shifts monthly. These shifts can be completed as single 24-hour blocks or split into day and night shifts. The schedule covers day, night, weekend, and holiday rotations as part of a shared team effort, ensuring continuous coverage for our high-volume delivery unit.
