Albany Medical College's Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a high-volume academic center serving as a regional perinatal referral hub. The department manages over 2,500 deliveries annually and 18,000+ ambulatory clinic visits, caring for a diverse patient population with complex maternal and fetal co-morbidities. The team includes 30 physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, 2 genetic counselors, and a robust educational program with 24 residents and 6 fellows. Comprehensive multidisciplinary support is provided by Maternal-Fetal Medicine, OB anesthesia, neonatology, nursing, and ancillary services.
We are seeking a full-time Obstetrician-Gynecologist Hospitalist to join our team in a shift-based, inpatient-only model. This role focuses exclusively on labor and delivery coverage, obstetric triage, and inpatient gynecologic care, with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. The position offers a unique opportunity to practice in a high-acuity environment with robust subspecialty support while fulfilling a strong educational mission.
As a Hospitalist, you will manage obstetric emergencies and high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The role involves supervising and teaching OB-GYN residents and medical students on Labor & Delivery and inpatient services, alongside active participation in simulation training, quality improvement initiatives, and protocol development. You will also support continuity of care by collaborating closely with outpatient providers.
The schedule operates on a 7-24 hour shift model (monthly), which may be completed as a single 24-hour shift or split into day and night shifts. Coverage includes day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as part of a shared schedule. Successful candidates will receive an academic appointment with a rank commensurate with their experience and have opportunities to develop an academic OBGYN Hospitalist program.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV to the Physician Recruitment team at physicianrecruitment@amc.edu.
