Albany Medical College's Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a high-volume academic center serving as a regional perinatal referral hub. The department manages over 2,500 deliveries annually and 18,000+ ambulatory visits, caring for a diverse patient population with complex maternal and fetal co-morbidities. The team includes 30 physicians, 10 advanced practice providers, 2 genetic counselors, and a robust educational program with 24 residents and 6 fellows. Comprehensive support is provided by multidisciplinary services including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, OB anesthesia, neonatology, and nursing.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to practice in a dedicated inpatient setting focused on labor and delivery, obstetric triage, and inpatient gynecologic care. The Obstetrician-Gynecologist Hospitalist will provide comprehensive inpatient care and manage obstetric emergencies in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Unlike traditional OB-GYN roles, this position operates on a shift-based hospitalist model with no outpatient clinic responsibilities, allowing for a focused practice on acute care and inpatient management.
A core component of this role is the academic mission. The successful candidate will actively supervise and teach OB-GYN residents and medical students on Labor & Delivery, participate in simulation training, and engage in quality improvement and protocol development. This is a unique opportunity to help develop an academic OBGYN Hospitalist program within a well-respected health system.
