As an integral member of the obstetrical team, you will assist staff in the care of obstetrical patients by performing delegated tasks to provide basic nursing care and support surgeons throughout operative procedures. This role is vital to ensuring patient safety and comfort in Labor and Delivery, requiring a blend of technical precision, anatomical knowledge, and compassionate care.
You will work closely with the surgical team to plan patient care, utilizing surgeon preference cards to anticipate needs and expedite procedures. Your day will involve maintaining sterile environments, managing equipment counts, and monitoring patient vitals, while also providing personal care assistance such as bathing and transportation. You will be responsible for identifying safety needs, reporting breaks in sterile technique, and responding appropriately to emergency situations.
We value integrity in both technical and aseptic practices, adhering to established policies based on AORN Standards of Care. Our team fosters a culture of initiative and continuous learning, where you are encouraged to demonstrate self-evaluation skills and seek guidance as needed. Collaboration is key; you will be expected to offer help to coworkers, nurses, and management, and participate actively in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Candidates must hold a High School diploma or equivalent and possess a current BLS certification. Preference is given to those with one year of Nursing Assistant experience or completion of a Nursing Assistant course within the last year, as well as two years of hospital experience.
