This position serves as a specialized Unit Educator within the Medical Department (MDC), functioning as a master teacher, preceptor, and clinical resource. The role is designed to bridge the gap between advanced nursing practice and educational leadership, ensuring that specialized patient care is delivered through evidence-based research and rigorous clinical protocols.
You will act as a clinical instructor for students from the College of Nursing (CON) on the home unit while maintaining your own clinical skills by providing direct patient care. This dual focus allows you to shape the next generation of nurses while actively managing a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics. The role requires a proactive approach to patient safety, encouraging staff and patients to question current processes and actively participate in care management.
As part of the Registered Nursing team, you will collaborate closely with the Clinical Educator, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Specialty RN, and Unit Director. Together, you will plan and implement curricula, develop unit-based strategies for skill development, and ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies. Your expertise will be instrumental in consulting with the multidisciplinary team to maintain quality standards and parameters across the continuum of care.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree (BSN) and an active RN license in New Mexico (or eligible via reciprocal agreement). Essential experience includes 18 months of directly related nursing experience. Additional language skills in Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are highly valued for this role. Successful candidates must also obtain required certifications, including CPR for Healthcare/BLS and Unit-Required Certifications (such as BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC) within the specified timelines.
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and encourage individuals with bilingual capabilities in local indigenous languages to apply.
