About the Role
As a Nursing Assistant, you will become an integral part of our patient care team, providing direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Department Director. Your primary focus will be ensuring patient safety and comfort while assisting with personal hygiene, nutritional needs, and comfort care. You will play a vital role in monitoring vital signs, maintaining accurate records, and swiftly reporting any changes in patient condition to the RN. Additionally, you will help uphold a clean, safe environment to enhance patient healing and well-being.
Duties may vary by unit or department, but your work will always center on offering personalized assistance and safely transferring patients. Essentia Health offers a Nursing Assistant Foundation course as well as on-the-job training for individuals interested in pursuing a Nursing Assistant career within a hospital setting.
Scheduling and Location
Our Nursing Assistants work rotating 8-hour shifts, with options for Day, Evening, or Overnight shifts. Schedules typically include every other weekend. Specific shift times include:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- Overnight Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
This position is located at Building B - St Marys Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. A variety of scheduling options are available to support your work-life balance.

Requirements
- verified6 months of nursing assistant experience OR completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program OR successful completion of an EH provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire OR verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program OR current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
