About the Role
As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Department Director. Your mission is to ensure patient safety and comfort while assisting with personal hygiene, nutritional needs, and comfort care. You will play a vital role in safely transferring patients, monitoring vital signs, maintaining accurate records, and swiftly reporting any changes in patient condition to the RN. By upholding a clean and safe environment, you will directly enhance patient healing and well-being.
Essentia Health offers a Nursing Assistant Foundation course as well as on-the-job training for individuals interested in pursuing a career within our hospital. Whether you are an experienced professional or a student completing clinical rotations, there is a pathway for you to grow with us.
Scheduling
Our Nursing Assistants work rotating 8-hour shifts with a variety of options available. The schedule typically includes every other weekend. Shifts may be:
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- Overnight Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Location
This position is based at Building B - St Marys Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota.

Requirements
- verified6 months of nursing assistant experience OR completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program OR successful completion of an EH provided Nursing Assistant training within one month of hire OR verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program OR current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
- verifiedBLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date
