Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America's heartland.
As a Nursing Assistant, you will serve as a dedicated caregiver to residents in an assisted living setting. You are an integral member of the nursing team, providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse. Your work focuses on delivering age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and psychological needs of residents, including those with dementia.
Your day involves providing comprehensive support for basic health care needs, such as bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing. You will assist with meals and snacks, creating a positive dining experience, and may help with food preparation. Depending on the location, you might assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking residents, as well as performing range of motion exercises. You will document care outcomes, communicate changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse, and may assist with procedures or collect specimens. Additionally, you may provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean and operational, while encouraging residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs.
The nursing department provides care 24 hours a day. Employment expectations may include varying shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the department and resident census. You will work with a great staff and residents, and may be asked to provide direction to students during their training.
