Night Manager

About the Role

As a Night Manager, you will be the driving force behind exceptional customer service and optimized store operations. Working under the guidance of the Assistant and Store Manager, your primary mission is to oversee store performance to drive sales, profitability, and efficiency. You will lead a team of 20 to 50 associates, managing front-end operations, inventory, and expense control while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both staff and customers.

Day in the Life

Your shift is defined by a fast-paced rhythm that transitions the store from a busy retail environment to a fully operational overnight facility. You will establish daily priorities, greet customers, and manage the flow of traffic at the front end. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to the nightly closing process, which includes stocking, facing products, and performing essential housekeeping duties like sweeping and sanitizing.

You will also handle critical logistical tasks, such as receiving and unloading truck deliveries and operating manual and electric pallet jacks. Safety is paramount; you will manage health, security, and emergency systems while ensuring all equipment and fixtures are maintained in top condition. Whether you are addressing performance issues with corrective action or assisting with cashier duties, your goal is to maintain the highest standards of operation.

Work Environment

This role takes place in a dynamic, fast-paced retail setting. You will be exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, as well as indoor variations in temperature, dust, and humidity. The position requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand or walk continuously, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform frequent reaching, bending, and squatting.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must be at least 18 years old. While previous experience in a retail or grocery environment is preferred, it is not required. The ideal candidate possesses the flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
