NSA's Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs) operate at the forefront of the agency's Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) mission. These professionals take an inclusive approach to problem-solving, frequently engaging with partners, enablers, and customers across the Intelligence Community. MDLAs provide U.S. policymakers and military leaders with a critical window into the foreign language world by analyzing, transcribing, and translating key information. They research cultures and geopolitical contexts, synthesize large volumes of disparate data, and craft unique written and oral assessments that offer insights unavailable from other intelligence disciplines.
Depending on skill level and experience, candidates are considered for either the Language Analysis Development Program (LADP) or direct hire into positions supporting an analytic mission office.
The LADP is an intensive, three-year program designed to accelerate the acquisition of unique technical skills and experience needed for the SIGINT mission. It includes 4-5 operational tours in various offices, interspersed with formal classroom and computer-based training. These tours focus on analyzing foreign language materials within the frameworks of SIGINT reporting and development. Please note that LADP does not teach a foreign language; it is designed for candidates who already possess proficiency.
