The Multi-State Highway Modeler serves as a vital support member within our transportation engineering team, bridging the gap between field operations and detailed design. This position is designed for a professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, working directly alongside Civil Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers to drive the success of complex infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will take a lead role in the field, partnering with contractors to inspect and document the reconstruction of critical assets such as parking lot pavement, sidewalks, and curb ramps at commercial sites. Your work ensures that the physical reality of the construction site aligns perfectly with our design intent. You will be instrumental in preparing as-built plans for ODOT design-build projects, translating contractor notes and client markups into precise documentation.
Day-to-day activities involve a mix of office-based design and on-site field inspections. You will contribute to the development of roadway and traffic control plans, including quantity calculations for major interchange projects. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to creating roadway typical sections, models, and plan/profile sheets, ensuring that elements like roundabout models and driveway profiles are accurately represented. Additionally, you will participate in field inspections on the Ohio Turnpike, conducting dashboard inspections of pavement conditions and sign reflectivity, followed by the analysis of video, audio, and written data to update our asset management database.
Work model: On-site
