Transportation Design Engineer - Mid-Level

About the Role

This mid-level Civil Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of transportation projects within our Sioux Falls office. Reporting primarily to a Senior Project Manager, you will execute complex design tasks while gradually taking on greater responsibility. The role is designed to foster professional growth, with a clear pathway to managing larger, more complex projects as your expertise expands.

You will serve as a key collaborator in the design process, coordinating roadway, traffic, environmental, structural, and drainage elements. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to developing design surface modeling and ensuring the seamless integration of all design components. Beyond technical execution, you will assist in establishing design-fee budgets, scoping strategies, and project schedules, ensuring projects stay on track and within budget.

As a mid-level professional, you will also play a mentorship role, guiding junior engineers and designers through project designs and construction document production. You will act as a liaison between the design team and clients, particularly for municipal and SDDOT projects, ensuring that budget, schedule, and quality goals are met. Additionally, you will coordinate design assistance during the construction phase, addressing requests for information and reviewing shop drawings.
