For more than a century, HNTB has been delivering solutions for some of the largest, most complex infrastructure projects across the country. As an employee-owned firm with over 6,000 employees and 70+ offices nationwide, we are one of the most prominent engineering, architecture, and planning firms in the nation. We serve clients in the highway and transportation industry with integrity, technical excellence, and a commitment to performance, ensuring quality work delivered on time and on budget.
Our project portfolio includes landmark investments such as Brightline in Miami, Sound Transit’s University Link Light Rail Extension in Seattle, the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York, and the 49ers Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. In the Philadelphia region, our team designs key infrastructure for PennDOT, the PA Turnpike, SEPTA, and Amtrak.
This opportunity is designed for Co-op Engineers to join our Highway and Transportation departments for the Fall/Winter 2026-2027 term. The role offers a meaningful career path where you can build communities that matter while working under close supervision to assist assigned departments and projects.
You will perform basic engineering-related tasks that reflect elements of a standard post-secondary engineering curriculum. Your work will directly support the design of highway, bridge, and transit system projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of documents for highway design—covering alignments, design criteria, signing, pavement markings, traffic control, utility coordination, right-of-way, drainage, grading, and cost estimates. You will also participate in field visits and client meetings, with a dedicated opportunity to develop your CAD drafting skill set.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary engineering program. Please note that relocation and housing are not provided for these positions, and visa sponsorship is not available. Applications should be submitted directly through our career portal.
HNTB is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
