About the Team
TPG is seeking an enthusiastic Mine Geologist to join a dedicated team focused on supporting copper production at a world-class copper deposit. This team operates an autonomous haulage, high-tonnage open-pit mine that processes both sulfide and oxide ores. The group is committed to linking and integrating geology with operations, planning, and metallurgy to drive site-wide value generation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, this position plays a critical role in supporting safe and efficient ore extraction. You will ensure that ore control decisions are informed by field observations and geological data, while ensuring ore routing supports both Mine-to-Mill optimization and LSXEW leach material performance. The role is instrumental in bridging the gap between geological interpretation and operational execution, minimizing dilution and maximizing recovery.
Location & Commuting
The mine site is located 64 miles southeast of Phoenix and 70 miles northeast of Tucson. To support the team, we offer a robust carpool and vanpool program. Employees participating in this program save more than 50% of their commuting costs while reading, sleeping, or enjoying the view.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleConduct detailed pit mapping, geologic logging, and sampling to ensure accurate material classification
- check_circleDefine and update ore control polygons and ore/waste boundaries for appropriate routing
- check_circleCollaborate with metallurgy teams to optimize heap leach material selection and performance
- check_circleContribute geological insight to shovel placement and short-range production plans to minimize dilution
- check_circlePerform QA/QC of sampling procedures including blast hole logging and data integrity reviews
- check_circleReport findings and provide visualizations in daily and weekly production meetings
- check_circleEnsure compliance with site HSE standards and promote safe fieldwork practices
- check_circleCoordinate with Survey, Mine Engineering, and Operations to align geological guidance with mining schedules
- check_circleSupport Mine-to-Mill initiatives by identifying rock characteristics impacting fragmentation and throughput
- check_circleParticipate in grade reconciliation processes to identify discrepancies and refine interpretations
- check_circleAssist in updating 3D operational geology models in Leapfrog Geo to reflect current pit conditions
- check_circleEnsure geological documentation adheres to international best practices and SEC SK-1300 standards
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline
- verified2+ years of open pit mine geology experience
- verifiedProficiency in geologic software (Leapfrog Geo, MinePlan, Vulcan, or similar)
- verifiedValid driver's license
