The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine employing approximately 500 people. Owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, a distinguished precious metals producer established in 1891, our site is a winner of numerous safety and environmental awards. We are seeking new team members committed to professional growth and success in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
Juneau, Alaska's capital, offers a unique blend of sophistication and wilderness. Nestled at the base of mountains overlooking the Gastineau Channel, the city is surrounded by intercoastal waterways, lush rain forests, and awe-inspiring glaciers. It provides the adventure of the "last frontier" alongside a strong sense of community, year-round cultural activities, and world-class fishing and wildlife viewing.
Mine Dispatchers serve as the central communication hub for the mine, bridging the gap between Underground Operations, Maintenance, and Tech Services. In this critical role, you will manage daily shift tasks, track operators, and ensure equipment availability through continuous coordination with support groups. You will be the primary point of contact for mine production, safety, and maintenance coordination, ensuring everyone works from the same current information.
Your day involves safely and competently operating the Mine Dispatch Control Room. You will monitor traffic and heavy equipment via video cameras, track personnel using digital systems, and relay work orders to crews in the field. Using tools like Scada, MST, and CMMS, you will capture and validate production data, compile accurate shift reports, and facilitate decision-making through Short Interval Control (SIC) structures. Whether managing routine production flow or leading communication during emergency events, you will ensure safety, efficiency, and clear, actionable updates for management and field crews.
Candidates must be prepared to undergo a comprehensive selection process, which includes a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and breathalyzer BAC testing. Successful applicants must also be able to obtain ATF Employee Possessor Clearance and complete MSHA training or provide documentation of prior completion.
Hecla Mining Company is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse workforce and consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
