Mental Health Worker (MHW)

About the Role

The Mental Health Worker (MHW) plays a vital support role within our mental healthcare setting, assisting licensed nurses in delivering compassionate and effective patient care. This position is designed for individuals who can respond quickly to changes in patient status and serve as a crucial link between the patient, the nursing team, and administration.

In this day-shift role, you will work closely with the Administrator, Manager, Charge RN, and fellow staff members to ensure seamless communication regarding patient clinical conditions, including vital signs, behavioral shifts, and physical symptomatology. You will perform basic nursing functions under the direction of the Charge Nurse, ensuring that all patient rights are upheld while providing cost-effective, quality, and efficient care.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include documenting vital signs, height, weight, intake, and output, while promptly alerting nursing personnel to any changes in a patient's condition. You will assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, ambulation, and grooming, while also helping to identify and mitigate fall risks. Additionally, you will demonstrate leadership in de-escalation, seclusion, or restraint episodes, strictly adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Hiring Process & Application

To join our team, candidates must possess current BLS/CPR certification and be able to obtain a FIRE Card within 60 days of employment. Successful applicants will complete unit orientation to achieve initial MABPRO MAB certification, with a goal of obtaining Advanced MABPRO certification by the end of that period.
