Lane County Behavioral Health serves more than 1,600 individuals with behavioral health conditions, working alongside community partners to provide a continuum of care from prevention through treatment and aftercare. Our mission is to foster a culture of resilience and recovery for our residents. In alignment with the County's Strategic Plan, we are driven by three core behaviors: Passion to Serve, Driven to Connect, and Focused on Solutions.
We are committed to Trauma Informed Care, recognizing that many individuals we serve have experienced trauma. Our agency dedicates itself to incorporating an understanding of trauma in our interactions with both clients and staff, ensuring our employees receive ongoing training to deepen their knowledge of its impacts.
We are launching the new Mobile Crisis Service of Lane County (MCS-LC) to better serve individuals experiencing behavioral health crises across our county. We are seeking dynamic Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHA) to join our team as mobile crisis responders.
In this role, you will work in two-person teams to respond to calls for service in both rural and metro areas of Lane County. Your day will involve providing phone-based, office-based, and community-based crisis assessment, intervention, and safety planning services. You will utilize standardized tools and strategies, supported by oversight and back-up from behavioral health clinical staff. Following a crisis, you will also provide follow-up referrals and case management support to ensure continuity of care.
This is a developing service, and the initial phase includes three weeks of full-time training (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) before transitioning to a swing shift and eventually a regular night shift (NOC). The schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts between 9:30 PM and 7:30 AM, either Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday. The role involves community-based work, routine travel, and may include overtime or non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every single listed qualification. Studies show that women and BIPOC individuals are often less likely to apply unless they feel they can perform every task; we are most interested in finding the best candidate, who may come from a less traditional background. The County will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.
Application Requirements:
Screening Process: Offers of employment are contingent upon successfully passing a full criminal offender information record check and a drug screening test. Lane County will verify all license and certification status during this process.
