About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist in our Blood Bank at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, you will perform and report various analyses from multiple specimen sources. This role is designed to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. You will be accountable for managing multiple work processes efficiently, handling specimens properly, and confirming identification and specimen suitability.

Your day will involve maintaining an expected level of productivity, resolving discrepancies on patient orders, and performing instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control. You will also assist in the training and orientation of new employees while participating in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field. Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams is required to ensure you meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on your assigned clinical area.
