This position serves as a critical bridge during Avera's enterprise EMR transition to EPIC. For the first 18 months, you will be the primary support for the laboratory during this major system migration, ensuring validation, workflow testing, and go-live readiness while maintaining safe, compliant operations. You will collaborate with laboratory leadership, informatics partners, and technical teams to identify issues, support corrective actions, and promote consistent processes.
Your day-to-day involves developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and documentation to align with new workflows. You will lead education and training efforts for staff, assist with post-go-live stabilization, and apply quality assurance principles to meet regulatory expectations and patient safety requirements. After the 18-month transition period, this role evolves into a Generalist Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) position within the laboratory, where you will manage day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation, perform complex clinical tests, and provide technical guidance to the team.
