About the Role
The Medical Lab Scientist Technical Specialist - Chemistry serves as a domain expert and technical leader within the Bell Hospital laboratory. This role is critical for ensuring that comprehensive laboratory testing delivers accurate, timely, and high-quality results for patients. Beyond individual testing duties, the specialist acts as a key operational pillar, stepping in to oversee the entire department in the absence of the manager or supervisor.
As a technical specialist, you will be the go-to resource for resolving complex issues that arise within the department. Your day involves a blend of high-level oversight and hands-on technical work, including coordinating quality assurance activities, managing instrument calibration and troubleshooting, and ensuring the laboratory remains in a constant state of regulatory readiness. You will also play a vital educational role, mentoring students, residents, and new employees to maintain the department's high standards of clinical competence.
