About the Role
The Medical Director serves as a vital bridge between clinical excellence and operational strategy within our outpatient ambulatory clinics. This unique position blends direct patient care with high-level administrative leadership, ensuring that physician and advanced practice provider teams deliver consistent, high-quality care while adhering to strict regulatory standards.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will collaborate closely with UPG and UVA Health leadership to align clinical practices with broader organizational goals. Your day-to-day involves not only managing a patient panel and serving as an EMR superuser but also mentoring providers, shaping clinical workflows, and driving performance outcomes. You will act as a clinical liaison, contributing essential medical insight to strategic decisions that impact patient safety, provider experience, and service line development.

Requirements
- verifiedGraduate of an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy
- verifiedCompletion of an accredited residency in the applicable specialty
- verifiedCurrent board certification or board eligibility in the applicable specialty
- verifiedEligible for and able to obtain unrestricted licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- verifiedCurrent, unrestricted DEA registration
- verifiedFive or more years of post residency clinical practice experience
- verifiedProgressive clinical leadership with administrative or operational oversight
- verifiedAmbulatory care delivery experience
- verifiedProficiency in clinical technology, electronic medical record systems, and data reporting tools
