This position serves as the strategic leader for the UTRGV Diabetes Center of Excellence, driving innovation, collaboration, and high-impact outcomes in the Rio Grande Valley. The role is designed to champion access to care tailored specifically to the unique needs of the local population while advancing value-based care initiatives and population health programs focused on diabetes management.
As a clinical expert in Endocrinology, you will operate within a multidisciplinary care setting, partnering with leadership across medicine, nursing, pharmacy, podiatry, and other health professions. Your mission is to design integrated, team-based care models that address the prevention, education, and treatment of diabetes and its complications. You will oversee the design and growth of clinical programs, including population health initiatives, high-risk patient care coordination, digital health integration, and chronic care management services.
Your work will balance clinical practice, academic leadership, and strategic development. You will maintain a clinical endocrinology practice for UT Health RGV, evaluating medical records and physical exams to formulate sound treatment recommendations in multidisciplinary settings. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to developing quality metrics, clinical pathways, and overseeing data dashboards to ensure excellence in clinical outcomes and adherence to ADA standards of care.
Beyond patient care, you will foster the next generation of medical professionals by teaching, mentoring, and providing a robust research environment for medical students, residents, and fellows. This includes presenting lectures with visual aids, supporting faculty development efforts, and participating in continuing education conferences. You will also actively engage in clinical research, developing independent programs, collaborating with investigators, and securing funding to support scholarly activity.
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to serve on institutional committee meetings and assume administrative duties as assigned. The position requires a self-motivated individual capable of communicating effectively at both technical and administrative levels to ensure constant quality assurance measures are in place.
