Bowhead is seeking a Medical Clerk to support the Institute of Surgical Research (ISR) Burn Unit at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX. This role is critical to the daily operations of the facility, ensuring the accurate management of patient health records, history, and information. The Medical Clerk will handle administrative duties including processing discharge paperwork, managing correspondence, and maintaining suspense logs and automated files in compliance with BAMC, The Joint Commission, and departmental directives.
You will serve as a central point of contact, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls, and directing communications to appropriate staff. The position requires a high level of attention to detail to prepare reports, letters, and memoranda with grammatical and procedural accuracy. You will also assist in establishing travel arrangements, maintaining administrative calendars, and training incoming Medical Clerks on daily, monthly, and yearly duties. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently and within teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where privacy and confidentiality are paramount.
This position is located at BAMC at Fort Sam Houston, TX. The role operates on a 24/7 schedule, Sunday through Saturday, with varying 8 or 10-hour shifts across first, second, third, and weekend rotations. The team structure anticipates support for multiple shifts to ensure continuous coverage.
