The Clinical Support Specialist serves as a vital extension of the healthcare team, bridging the gap between administrative efficiency and patient care. Designed for professionals who provide essential clinical and administrative assistance without holding a national medical assistant certification, this role is pivotal in enhancing provider workflow. By handling real-time medical documentation and basic clinical intake, you ensure that providers can focus on patient interaction while maintaining accurate, high-quality records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Your day begins by ensuring exam rooms are prepared, disinfected, and fully stocked with necessary supplies. As patients arrive, you will escort them from the waiting area, obtain and record vital signs, and update their basic information in the system.
Once the provider enters the exam room, you will accompany them to document the clinical visit in real time. This involves accurately transcribing the History of Present Illness (HPI), physical exam findings, and the provider's assessment and plan, requiring a strong grasp of medical terminology and the ability to type at 60+ WPM with high accuracy. Between patients, you will assist with non-invasive care tasks, prepare laboratory requisitions, and manage patient flow by monitoring schedules and routing messages via the EHR "In-Basket." The role concludes by assisting with patient check-outs, providing printed summaries, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
We are committed to maintaining a professional environment where every team member represents the organization positively. We expect all staff to demonstrate our "Healing Model" in their daily interactions, fostering a cooperative relationship with physicians, administration, and patients. Confidentiality is paramount; strict adherence to HIPAA Privacy Rules and organizational ethical policies is required at all times. We value punctuality, professional conduct, and the ability to manage time wisely to ensure seamless care delivery.
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification. While previous experience in a healthcare setting or completion of a Medical Assistant or CNA training program is preferred, we welcome dedicated individuals ready to learn. Please ensure your application highlights your typing proficiency and familiarity with EHR platforms such as Epic, Athena, or Cerner.
