About the Role
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a vital member of the healthcare team, functioning under the direct supervision of a physician during clinical tasks while reporting to the clinic manager for administrative oversight. This role is unique to our area, blending standard clinical duties with specialized support for high-acuity patient populations.
You will be responsible for assisting with procedure setup, providing intra-procedural assistance, and managing time-out documentation. A key component of this position involves performing mean arterial blood pressure measurements specifically for preeclampsia screening patients. You will also play a critical role in patient safety and education by maintaining examination room inventories, organizing efficient patient flow, and delivering medication and procedure education to patients and their families.
The day-to-day responsibilities extend to chaperoning ultrasound exams and other sensitive examinations, assisting with high-level disinfection processes, and managing the logistics of reusable surgical equipment by transporting it to and from Central Sterile. Additionally, you will be tasked with inputting research data and maintaining accurate records of care provided in patient medical records.
To ensure flexibility and support across the department, CMAs may provide assistance to the neighboring Nelson unit during periods of lower clinic volume. This support includes helping clinical staff obtain patient vital signs and completing other patient care support tasks as needed.

Shift Details
This is a full-time position (40 hours) scheduled for the day shift, running from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The schedule is designed to provide work-life balance with no weekend requirements.
