As a Medical Assistant within the Medical Services Division at the Clearwater Health Department, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive clinical care. This position offers a dynamic day-to-day experience, splitting your time between the laboratory and the clinic. In the lab, you will perform phlebotomy, process specimens for in-house testing, and prepare samples for transport to external facilities, ensuring quality control and accurate documentation in the Electronic Medical Record. In the clinic, you will support the clinical services team by conducting pre-clinical interviews, collecting health and immunization histories, and assisting physicians and nursing staff with patient care. You will be the bridge between patients and providers, managing intake, administering injections, and providing essential health education and counseling.
You will be based at the St. Petersburg Health Department, located at 205 MLK Jr. Street N., St. Petersburg, FL 33701. This role requires the ability to work effectively with diverse populations across various age groups and clinical settings, including Adult and Adolescent Health, Family Planning, STD, Primary Care, Pediatrics, and Specialty clinics.
