About the Role
The Medicaid Analyst serves as the in-house subject matter expert for Medicaid, owning the end-to-end reimbursement process for Stride's online schools. This role is critical to supporting a student population with higher-than-average economic need by maximizing allowable services under the Medicaid Program and ensuring all payments are accurately forecasted, collected, and recorded.
You will partner across Special Programs, Accounting, and Government Affairs to establish best-in-class billing workflows. By driving operational excellence and expanding funding capabilities, you will help secure the financial resources necessary to sustain our educational mission. The position requires a proactive approach to navigating complex regulations, optimizing billing workflows, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to influence service eligibility under federal funding streams for virtual students.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleCollaborate with Special Programs to identify billable student services and code encounters per state and federal guidelines
- check_circlePrepare, submit, reconcile, and resubmit claims to state and federal agencies to ensure timely payment
- check_circleBuild and maintain funding models, P&L, and cash-flow forecasts for Medicaid reimbursements
- check_circleResearch, recommend, and implement best practices to optimize billing workflows and increase reimbursement rates
- check_circlePartner with Government Affairs to influence and expand service eligibility under federal funding streams
- check_circlePartner with Accounting to ensure accurate GL postings of federal program revenue and proper internal controls
- check_circleMonitor trends in reimbursement rates, utilization, and policy changes to present insights to Finance leadership
- check_circlePrepare interim financial reports, audit responses, and support statutory reporting requirements
- check_circleMonitor receivables and aging while driving collection efforts to resolve billing discrepancies
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- verified2+ years of billing experience in educational/school-district environment (Medicaid/federal programs) OR equivalent
- verifiedProficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday)
- verifiedAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills
- verifiedAbility to pass required background check
Nice to Have
Certification or licensure in Medicaid billing, school treasurer credentials, or relevant federal program billing (or ability to obtain as required by state/federal agencies). Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar professional certification. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree in Finance, Public Policy, or related field.
