The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development, and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. The Hardware Engineering team strives to be the premier organization for mechanical design and development through world-class people and technology, creating trusted, innovative solutions to make the world a safer place.
Within this organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of products, including undersea sensors, naval platforms, shipboard and ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.
This full-time Mechanical Engineer II position is located onsite in Portsmouth, RI. As a member of the UES design team, you will partner with colleagues across multiple disciplines to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. Your work will drive results by efficiently completing design and support tasks for defense system equipment.
You will guide mechanical designs from initial concept through formal technical data package generation (including engineering drawings and models), culminating in initial builds, testing, transition to production, and ongoing production support. The role involves participating in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conducting trade studies to make sound technical decisions. Occasional travel to customer sites or suppliers within the CONUS is generally required, with optional international or longer-duration assignments available.

Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems, specifically knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints. Experience with Military and Commercial Specifications. Experience with PTC CREO and PDM. Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program level tasking. Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a cross functional team. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate to technical, non-technical, and management audiences.
