SAAB's Engineering & Design team in Defense & Aerospace is dedicated to delivering mission-critical solutions that define the future of defense systems. We operate in a highly collaborative and supportive environment where innovation and efficiency drive our work. Our mission is to lead the mechanical design of cutting-edge systems, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of performance, reliability, and compliance with military standards.
As a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader guiding complex defense and aerospace projects from initial concept through full-scale production. This role exists to bridge the gap between advanced engineering analysis and practical, manufacturable hardware. You will not only execute system-level trade studies and detailed CAD design but also drive the culture of continuous improvement and design best practices within the team.
Your day-to-day involves deep collaboration across disciplines, working alongside systems, electrical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure seamless integration. Beyond technical execution, you will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior engineers and designers, fostering their growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. You will be responsible for leading design reviews, managing risk assessments, and ensuring all configurations adhere to strict regulatory requirements.
Candidates interested in joining our team are encouraged to submit their applications directly through our careers portal. The selection process typically involves an initial screening to assess alignment with our mission, followed by technical interviews focused on your experience with defense standards and mechanical design challenges. Final stages include a discussion with the hiring team to evaluate cultural fit and technical depth.
SAAB is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status. We strive to create an environment where every team member can contribute their unique perspective to our mission-critical work.
