As a Facilities Engineer - Mechanical, you will work directly with mission customers to validate requirements and unique needs. You will serve as a key partner in the development of designs for new and renovated facilities, conducting site surveys to capture system infrastructure and operational characteristics. Your work will involve inspecting and monitoring the condition of facilities systems and equipment, performing engineering analyses, and reviewing engineering plans and drawings. You will provide construction detailing, prepare technical reports and specifications, and manage the cost estimation process for building infrastructure projects. This role is critical in ensuring that our physical infrastructure supports the Agency's critical mission.

Knowledge and experience in technical software packages (e.g., AutoCAD, SixSigma, Pipeflow, ARCHGIS, Trane Trace, vendor equipment selection software), engineering calculations (e.g., heating and cooling load, hydronic pressure drop, static pressure drop, NPSH, psychrometric, utility utilization projections), mechanical codes and guidelines (e.g., SMACNA, ASHRAE, IBC, IMC, IPC, LEED, Indoor Air Quality Standards), cost estimating, design, analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical facilities infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, chilled water, steam, EMCS, heating water, ventilation, air distribution, plumbing, energy management, data centers), cost-benefit analysis and life-cycle cost analysis, and system startup, commissioning, and testing and balancing.
Skills: Autocad, Sixsigma, Pipeflow, Archgis, Trane Trace, Computer Aided Design, Drafting, Hvac, Chilled Water, Steam.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Master's degree accepted as alternative to Bachelor's with less experience; Doctoral degree accepted as alternative to Bachelor's with no experience.
