About the Team

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We tackle the most challenging problems, managing thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. We collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. We pioneered cloud computing and never stopped innovating, which is why customers from the most successful startups to Global 500 companies trust our robust suite of products and services to power their businesses.

About the Role

Engineers at Amazon work to design resilient, cost-effective mechanical distribution systems to achieve world-class uptime for our customers. In this role, you will justify and communicate technical decisions to Senior Management and drive continuous advancements with your designs. You have the ability to drive change and define the systems our customers rely on.

You will take designs from concept to the permit and construction document set, defining critical equipment specifications and approving equipment submittals. As a subject matter expert in the mechanical engineering field, you will directly support construction, participating in the process from site selection review through commissioning and ultimately turnover. You will work with internal teams, external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors, and occasionally travel to sites for reviews, engineering evaluations, and startup support.

Amazon offers a fast-paced, fun, and exciting work environment. We continue to grow at exponential rates and are looking for individuals who can support our speed to market, enjoy a challenge, and have a desire for professional growth and continuous learning. Our work environment is unique in every aspect and offers an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate.

Hiring Process

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen. The interview process will evaluate your hands-on mechanical design experience, understanding of critical data center equipment needs, and ability to define constructability for varying designs.

Equal Opportunity

Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, please visit our accommodations page for more information.

We value diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.

We value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why we strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. Here at AWS, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empowers us to be proud of our differences. We're continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer, offering endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and other career-advancing resources to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.
