About the Role

The Mechanic in Plant Operations is a vital part of the RWJBH Medical Center complex, performing a wide variety of maintenance duties to ensure the facility operates safely and effectively. This role is designed to support the hospital's mission by maintaining the physical infrastructure that allows our medical teams to focus on patient care.

In this position, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, working alongside tradesmen and other workers to complete special projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities include installing and repairing locks, doors, windows, and screens, as well as performing general carpentry work. You will conduct routine and preventative maintenance on non-clinical hospital equipment, inspecting it for safety, and repairing or replacing broken or worn parts. Additionally, you will troubleshoot plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, and drain lines, and maintain nurse call and tube systems throughout the hospital. Beyond the technical tasks, you are expected to provide a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service to colleagues and visitors.

Hiring Process

Candidates selected for this position will be offered compensation based on factors including educational background, skills, and professional experience. The role is a full-time, day-shift position (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) located at the POWER PLANT - WSC.
