The Unity Council is a non-profit Social Equity Development Corporation with a 60-year history in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. Our mission is to promote social equity and improve quality of life by building vibrant communities where everyone can work, learn, and thrive. We provide holistic programs and services that reach over 10,000 individuals and families annually in five languages, covering areas from early childhood education to affordable housing and arts and cultural events. As the Marketing and Event Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the promotion, booking, and successful execution of community, nonprofit, and private events held at The Unity Council's community and commercial spaces. Reporting to the Vice President of Property Management, this entry-level position is designed for a creative, organized, and customer-service-oriented individual who is excited about community activation.
In this role, you will be the bridge between our community and our spaces. Your day will involve crafting social media campaigns to drive engagement, reaching out to potential clients and organizations to generate leads, and ensuring seamless event logistics. You will manage the administrative backbone of our event operations, including processing bookings, handling invoicing through the Yardi Kube portal, and maintaining accurate records. Whether you are updating website content, coordinating with vendors on-site, or assisting with event setup, your work directly contributes to revenue generation and the vibrancy of our neighborhood.

Associate's Degree or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Event Management, or related field. 0–2 years of experience in marketing, customer service, sales, hospitality, events, administration, or related field.
