As a Marine Electrician, you are the backbone of our electrical infrastructure. In this full-time, non-exempt role, you will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures on ships, ensuring all work adheres to relevant codes and specifications. You will work closely with the Electrical Supervisor to deliver projects on time, to specification, and within scope.
Your day-to-day involves connecting wires to circuit breakers and transformers, assembling and testing electrical systems using specialized tools like oscilloscopes and voltmeters, and diagnosing malfunctions to correct breakdowns. You will read blueprints and sketches to plan layouts, install ground leads, and run conduit through walls and partitions. The role requires physical versatility, including working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs, as well as performing demanding tasks like digging trenches and lifting heavy objects.
You will operate in a dynamic environment that includes outdoor settings with varying temperatures. Safety is paramount; you must identify hazards, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and be prepared to assist during emergencies by operating generators and floodlights.
