GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by more than 50 million registered users and over 50% of the Fortune 100 to ship better, more secure software faster. Our mission is to accelerate digital transformation by increasing developer productivity and reducing security risk. The same principles built into our products are reflected in how our team works: we embrace AI as a core productivity multiplier, with all team members expected to incorporate AI into their daily workflows to drive efficiency, innovation, and impact.
GitLab is a high-performance, remote-first culture driven by continuous knowledge exchange. We believe every voice is valued, and we co-create the future by building technology that transforms how the world develops software.
We are seeking a Manager to lead the GitLab Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) in the Americas region. This team operates in a tierless SOC model, managing and investigating cybersecurity incidents across all GitLab operating environments. The role is critical to defending GitLab infrastructure and products, including GitLab.com, GitLab Dedicated, and GitLab Dedicated for Government (FedRAMP).
In this position, you will manage the day-to-day work of incident response engineers, setting clear performance expectations and coaching their growth. You will own the full incident lifecycle, from alert triage to retrospective actions, while making sound operational decisions under pressure. A key focus of this role is actively seeking opportunities to "shift left" by improving defenses and leveraging AI and automation to optimize team workflows.
The Security Incident Response Team is a globally distributed group split across AMER, APAC, and EMEA. While we work cross-regionally to resolve incidents and conduct threat hunts, this specific role requires availability during US West Coast business hours. Candidates based on the West Coast are preferred, though others comfortable with these hours are welcome. Occasional after-hours and weekend coverage may be required to support engineers during high-severity incidents.
GitLab welcomes interest from candidates with varying levels of experience. We believe that successful candidates often do not meet every single requirement, and we encourage you to apply if you are excited about the role. Our Talent Acquisition team is available to answer questions about location eligibility and the recruiting process.
GitLab is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. Our policies and practices relating to recruitment, employment, and career development are based solely on merit, regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry, sex, national origin, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, genetic information, or any other basis protected by law. We will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on any of these characteristics. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know during the recruiting process.
