The Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Services Unit Manager serves as a visionary leader within the Correctional Medicine department at UNM Hospitals. This role is critical for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the MAT Services Unit, ensuring strict compliance with patient care standards, state laws, and regulatory agencies. The position exists to coordinate complex tasks and drive effective change within a unique healthcare environment that serves incarcerated populations across all age groups, from neonates to geriatric patients.
In this capacity, you will provide leadership that balances clinical excellence with the specific security and operational demands of the MDC (Medication Assisted Treatment) setting. You will collaborate closely with the program medical director and cross-departmental leadership to maintain efficiency and fiscal integrity. While the primary focus is managerial, the role also involves direct patient care consultation when necessary to support staff and ensure continuity of care.
This position operates within the Clinical Leadership department, utilizing the UNM Hospitals mission to implement system changes that maintain quality patient care. You will act as an ambassador for UNMH/HSC, fostering professional relationships with the MDC team and custody staff. A key part of the mission involves active participation in nursing strategic initiatives, including quality improvement, NCCHC compliance, and staff recruitment and retention.
Candidates selected for this role will be subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal. Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining MDC security clearance. Additionally, tuberculosis testing is required upon hire and as needed thereafter. The role includes participation in a leadership on-call rotation.
