About the Role
The client is seeking a General Mechanic to join their Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Chandler, AZ. This is a 3+ month contract position based at 6833 West Willis Road.
In this role, you will design, fabricate, install, repair, modify, and maintain machines, equipment, structures, and facilities. You will handle a wide variety of materials including machine parts, metal stock, pins, tubing, fittings, mechanical hardware, compressed gases, oil, grease, paint, acids, fiber optics, and specialty metals. The position requires a working knowledge of welding, machine repair, millwright tasks, hydraulics, sheet metal, pipe fitting, and blueprints.
You will be expected to work a fixed schedule, which may include 8- or 12-hour shifts, evenings, nights, holidays, and overtime. The role involves using tools common to the crafts of millwright, pipefitter, welder, layout person, rigger, and blacksmith, such as drill presses, saws, abrasive cutoff wheels, grinders, shears, pipe fitting equipment, welding and burning equipment, hoists, cranes, and non-destructive testing equipment.
Hiring Process
Qualified candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations for controlled technology as defined by the Export Administration Regulations and/or ITAR. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selection process includes:
- Satisfactorily passing a comprehensive online and hands-on skills test.
- Passing a physical examination, drug screen, and background check.
- For current general mechanics, proof of experience and/or a copy of a Journeyman's card must accompany the application.
Successful candidates will be subject to a probation period not to exceed 6 months.
