You will perform cleaning, general maintenance, and minor repairs to buildings, equipment, and grounds at the National Guard Armory located in Lafayette, Indiana. You will be responsible for the entire facility and grounds, excluding areas of specific military responsibility such as kitchens (except when included in a rental agreement), OMS areas, military supply rooms, vehicle compounds, and POL buildings.
Your workday will involve routine carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs to ensure facility efficiency. You will check heating, air conditioning, kitchen, and laundry equipment, installing items like curtain rods, tile, screens, window glass, doors, wiring, and plumbing fixtures. Additionally, you will repair electrical appliances, motors, pumps, fire alarm systems, and locks, while assisting skilled tradespeople on major projects. Attendance at the assigned worksite is an essential function of this position.
