Chenega Facilities Management, LLC is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to support the Batavia, NY facility. This position is designated as Mission Critical, meaning it is essential for meeting the installation's safety and security needs during lockdown conditions, including inclement weather events like snow and ice control. The role may also serve as part of an emergency management or response team to fulfill specific contract requirements.
In this capacity, you will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings. The role requires practical skill and knowledge across various trades—including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work—without necessarily requiring journeyman-level proficiency. You will be responsible for planning and laying out work based on blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, while ensuring full compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
Your day-to-day involves keeping the Supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. You will assist other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations and maintain proper housekeeping practices to ensure work areas and mechanical rooms remain clean and unobstructed. Safety is a core component of this position; you are expected to support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including adherence to training and specific trade requirements. This includes wearing and using all required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, safety shoes, earplugs, and hard hats.
