Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and medical orders from a Practitioner, this position provides essential direct and indirect nursing care within an outpatient setting. The role serves as a vital resource, orienting and supporting LPNs and unlicensed personnel while ensuring high standards of patient safety and care delivery.
You will manage the full spectrum of patient interactions, from reviewing medical records and initiating follow-ups to administering treatments, immunizations, and medications. A significant portion of the role focuses on immunization management, including maintaining the Hawaii Immunization Registry System (HIR), managing VFC (Vaccines for Children) inventory, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and health plan guidelines. You will also coordinate projects, train new staff on emergency vaccine storage, and act as a liaison with the state for inventory coordination.
In addition to clinical duties, you will collaborate with the RN and Practitioner to revise care plans, provide patient education, and ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, particularly in documenting findings, managing vaccine data, and handling point-of-care testing. You will also serve as a resource for the team, demonstrating competency in basic nursing skills and vendor-specific products.
Candidates must possess a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Hawaii and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. For OHS-specific roles, certification in Spirometry, Hearing Conservation, and Substance Abuse Specimen Collection is required at hire or within one year of employment.
We are committed to providing culturally sensitive care and service appropriate to all age groups. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and foster an environment of teamwork, conflict resolution, and effective communication.
