Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and medical orders from a Practitioner, this position provides essential direct and indirect nursing care within an outpatient setting. The role serves as a vital resource, orienting and supporting LPNs and clinic staff while ensuring high standards of patient care.
You will manage the full spectrum of patient interactions, from reviewing medical records and initiating follow-ups to administering treatments, immunizations, and medications. A significant portion of the role involves managing patient vaccine data, including updating the Hawaii Immunization Registry System (HIR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR), as well as maintaining compliance with Health Plan and VFC guidelines. You will act as a liaison with the state to coordinate VFC inventory, generate compliance reports, and train staff on emergency vaccine storage procedures.
In addition to clinical duties, you will collaborate with the RN and Practitioner to revise care plans, provide patient education, and ensure infection control policies are followed. The role requires flexibility to perform efficiently in emergency situations and the ability to assign basic nursing tasks to other staff members while maintaining clear communication and adherence to departmental standards.
