About the Role
Ascent Classical Academy is seeking a Long Term Substitute Music Teacher to join the Grammar School faculty from mid-August through late October/early November. This part-time position operates on a daily schedule from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., serving students in grades 1st, 3rd, and 5th.
Working within a content-rich curriculum framework, the Music Teacher will deliver engaging, high-quality instruction designed to foster a love of music while supporting the intellectual and moral development of students. While lesson materials and PowerPoint presentations are provided, the role requires the teacher to implement these lessons effectively, cultivate a positive and orderly classroom environment, and inspire students to develop their musical abilities, creativity, and appreciation for a wide range of musical styles.
In keeping with the mission of Ascent Classical Academy and its partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative, the teacher will encourage academic growth alongside the formation of good habits, character, and attentiveness. The role involves assisting with daily school operations, including supervision of beginning and end-of-day routines, lunch, recess, and transitional periods, while building positive relationships with students through encouragement and effective classroom management.
