About the Role

As a teacher in Jefferson Parish Public Schools, you will play a vital role in promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of every student assigned to you. Your day-to-day work involves utilizing a variety of instructional materials and techniques to support student development. You will plan and prepare classes by submitting weekly lesson plans, while maintaining accurate records including attendance, health logs, and report cards. Beyond the classroom, you will actively engage with parents to keep them informed of student progress, collaborate with school-based and central office personnel, and participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.

The role requires a balance of instructional leadership and operational responsibility. You will manage classroom dynamics, ensure a safe and attractive learning environment, and assist in the evaluation process. Whether working in climate-controlled classrooms or outdoor areas, you will serve as a positive role model, exhibiting self-control and decorum for students to emulate.

Hiring Process

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree and a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, or be eligible for a Practitioner's License as confirmed by a local university. Certification in the specific area of assignment is also required. The work year consists of 183 days, with a salary range commensurate with your degree and verified teaching experience.
