The Licensed Professional Counselor serves as a vital member of the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Providence Portland Medical Center. This part-time, day-shift position is dedicated to the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders. Working under direct clinical supervision, the counselor collaborates with patients and their support systems to assess risk, implement safety plans, and deliver specialized psychotherapy services. The role utilizes evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy—to reduce or resolve symptoms within individual, group, and family settings.
This position is designed for a professional working toward licensure, operating under a Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists-approved supervision plan. The counselor will actively participate in milieu management and function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team.
