About the Team
The Avera Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls is dedicated to providing a structured, age-appropriate therapeutic environment for children and adolescents. Our mission is to help patients understand their challenges, develop healthy coping skills, and achieve their personal goals. We are a multidisciplinary team built on compassion, striving to "Move Health Forward" for both our patients and our community.
We are currently expanding our Adolescent program to a 40-bed unit, while our Child unit operates as a 14-bed facility and our Adolescent Residential unit as an 8-bed facility. This growth offers a dynamic environment where you can collaborate with over 70 coworkers and make a tangible difference in the lives of youth aged 5 to 17 and their families.
About the Role
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on our Behavioral Health team, you will practice autonomously within a challenging, active care setting. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses, advanced practice providers, or physicians, organizing and directing patient care with a focus on critical thinking and patient-centered outcomes.
Your day-to-day involves conducting focused nursing assessments, collaborating on care plans, and implementing interventions for patients dealing with addiction, anxiety, ADHD, depression, and suicidal behavior. You will advocate for your patients, provide health counseling, and delegate nursing interventions to ensure safe, effective care. With a supportive 1 LPN to 7-8 patient ratio and a self-scheduling program, you will have the flexibility to balance your professional growth with your personal life.
