Step into a part-time role that supports the day-to-day operations of an active library location. This opportunity is designed for internal candidates ready to continue growing their careers within the library system. Transitioning into this role supports long-term career growth, professional development, and continued advancement within the organization. This position builds on your current experience by delivering excellent customer service to patrons, promoting library programs and services, and helping maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment. The role works closely with Librarians to assist in acquiring, preparing, organizing, and circulating library materials—playing an essential role in connecting people with information and resources.

Your Day-to-Day Journey

In this role, you will navigate departmental policies and modern office procedures while utilizing tools like Microsoft Office and the Dewey Decimal system. Your day involves accurate data entry, record maintenance, and operating various office equipment to support library functions. You will provide guidance and customer assistance through all forms of communication, author reports and correspondence, and establish effective working relationships with managers, service providers, and the public.

The work environment is primarily indoor and climate-controlled, free from disagreeable elements. While the role involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting (up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally), there is little to no risk related to physical or mental health and safety. As a County employee, you may be required to participate in emergency response and recovery activities, temporarily adjusting your duties or schedule to meet the needs of the community.
