The County of Volusia is seeking a dedicated Library Assistant to join the team at the Daytona Beach Regional Library. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Youth Services department, with a primary focus on delivering direct, high-quality service to library users. The role is designed to ensure that young patrons and their families have a welcoming, organized, and resource-rich environment.
In this capacity, you will spend more than half of your time at the Youth Services public service desk, acting as a first point of contact for the community. Your day will involve assisting patrons with their accounts, guiding them to specific materials, and answering questions about library resources. Beyond the desk, you will be responsible for maintaining the collection's integrity through shelf-reading, processing new materials, and managing the deletion process under the direction of Youth Services Librarians. You will also assist in the operation of various sections, including Children's, Circulation, and Computer/AV services, and support the implementation of programs for adults, teens, and children.
