The Coil Slitter Machine Helper is a vital support role within our industrial manufacturing team, working directly alongside the Slitter Operator to ensure the seamless setup, operation, and maintenance of coil slitting equipment. This position exists to maintain high production standards by managing material flow, verifying quality, and fostering a safe, efficient work environment.
In this role, you will be the hands-on partner to the machine operator, assisting with the setup and changeover of slitting machines and handling the threading of coils through slitting heads and recoilers. Your day involves loading and unloading steel coils using overhead cranes or forklifts, banding and labeling finished products, and rigorously measuring material dimensions to ensure they meet specifications. You will also play a key role in housekeeping by removing scrap and maintaining a clean workspace, while constantly monitoring machine operations to report any issues immediately.
You will be working in an active industrial manufacturing setting. Please note that the shop is not climate-controlled, meaning you will be exposed to varying temperatures, including heat and cold. The environment involves exposure to loud noise, steel materials, and heavy equipment, requiring a high level of situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
